Fine leather is a natural material that develops a rich patina over time. With proper care, your DIAZ pieces will become more beautiful with each passing year. Follow these guidelines to keep your items looking their best.
General Leather Care
Do
- Clean with a soft, dry cloth regularly
- Apply a quality leather conditioner every 3–6 months
- Store in the dust bag provided
- Allow leather to breathe — avoid airtight storage
- Stuff bags with tissue paper when not in use to maintain shape
Don't
- Expose to direct sunlight for prolonged periods
- Get wet — if it does, let it dry naturally away from heat
- Use chemical cleaners or alcohol-based products
- Overstuff bags or wallets
- Store in plastic bags or humid environments
Wallets & Small Leather Goods
Avoid overfilling your wallet as it can distort the leather and affect the structure over time. Remove unnecessary cards and receipts regularly. Wipe down the exterior with a slightly damp cloth for light cleaning, and follow with a dry cloth.
For scratches on smooth leather, gently rub with your fingertip — the natural oils from your skin can often minimize the appearance of light marks.
Bags & Larger Items
When not in use, store your bag upright in its dust bag, stuffed with tissue paper to maintain its shape. Keep hardware clean with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid placing bags on rough surfaces that could scratch the leather.
For structured bags, avoid hanging by the straps for long periods as this can cause them to stretch.
Hardware Care
Our hardware is finished to resist tarnishing, but regular maintenance will keep it looking its best. Polish hardware gently with a soft dry cloth. Avoid contact with perfume, lotions, and moisture which can affect the finish over time.
